Sunday River is a place designed for those ready to take steps towards understanding themselves and relearning ways to interact with the world

The Story

In March 2021, I was driving an RV through the backwoods of Maine when I saw a road named “Sunday River”. Immediately after reading the road sign, I noticed my shoulders relax and I released a sigh that I didn’t know needed to be freed. I tucked the name away for future use. Flash forward about 2 years, I felt it was time to start my own practice and Sunday River seemed like the perfect name.

My hope is that Sunday River Counseling can offer a place of respite, peace, and exploration for my clients. Sunday’s are a day for rest whether that be taking an extended walk, laying on your couch, eating brunch with your people or practicing forms of worship. Rivers have symbolized cleansing and renewal for centuries. I envision those two words combined create a place where rest gets redefined and “beginning again” gets an opportunity to exist.

Meet Maggy

I graduated with my Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2018. I am a licensed clinical social worker in Georgia (CSW007847) and South Carolina (License #15054). I offer in-person and virtual sessions in Georgia. For my South Carolina clients, I offer virtual-only sessions.

I have experience working in community-based mental health and child welfare services. As a member of the adoptee community, I have an affinity for working with other people who have been adopted.

My approach is relaxed, collaborative and open. Listening to my clients and being allowed into their lives is not something I take lightly. I find it a great joy to be able to know each client and I work to make sure that is known in session. All sessions are client-paced. If you aren’t sure where we should start, that’s ok with me.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy traveling, learning new things and having long dinners with people I love.
